Daily Life

At Legato Living, we are committed to creating a supportive, home-like environment where individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can experience comfort, dignity, and purpose at every stage of their journey.

Many traditional memory care and skilled nursing facilities are simply too large and overwhelming. Our smaller residential homes, individualized care approach, and experienced care partners allow residents to succeed in everyday living while maintaining a sense of self and familiarity. Families are an important part of daily life at Legato Living and are encouraged to remain involved and visit at any time.

Our focus is singular and intentional: memory care, including Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

Plan of Care

Each resident receives an individualized Plan of Care upon admission. This plan addresses daily needs such as ambulation, bathing, bowel and bladder care, communication, dietary needs, dressing, laundry preferences, and oral care. It also includes personal preferences, social history, and past and present hobbies.

Plans of Care are reviewed regularly and updated as needed by the administrative team in collaboration with families, ensuring care remains aligned with each resident’s evolving needs.

Bathing

Each home includes one to two bathing areas with walk-in showers designed for safety and comfort. Bathing spaces are equipped with shower chairs, grab bars, non-slip mats, and hand-held shower heads.

Care partners are trained to assist residents respectfully and safely with bathing. Individual bathing schedules are established during admission based on family input and resident preferences, including the number of baths per week.

Dressing

Care partners assist residents with dressing as needed, based on their stage of dementia and level of independence. For residents in the early stages, support may include selecting weather-appropriate clothing, avoiding layering of garments, and ensuring fasteners are secured.

As dementia progresses, additional assistance — including full support with dressing — is provided to ensure comfort, dignity, and safety throughout the day.

Grooming and Hygiene

Daily grooming and hygiene support is provided to help residents feel comfortable and cared for. Care partners assist with oral hygiene, shaving, nail care, and hair care as part of daily routines.

A professional beautician visits each home weekly to provide haircuts and styling services. These services can be scheduled regularly or arranged as needed based on family preferences.
