Memory care is about more than a place to live. The everyday experience is shaped by relationships, familiar routines, care partnerships, and connection to the community around each home.
The October newsletter from Legato Living of Greater Indianapolis highlighted several examples of what that looks like in practice – from intergenerational visits and clinical partnerships to new technology and community involvement.
Bringing Generations Together Through Adopt-a-Grandparent
In September, Legato Living began a new Adopt-a-Grandparent partnership with Primrose School and Daycare.
The first visit brought residents and children together for activities, conversation, smiles, and plenty of sweet moments. The Legato team shared that it was wonderful to see how naturally the two generations connected and how much joy a simple visit could bring to everyone involved.
The partnership is just getting started, and Legato Living is already looking forward to more visits, friendships, and memories together.
Care That Stays Connected Through Grace at Home
Another update focused on Legato Living’s partnership with Grace at Home and its traveling primary care team.
Legato Living’s dedicated nurse, Christine, works closely with Physician Assistant Katelyn to support clinical coordination, medication changes, vital checks, weight monitoring, acute concerns, behaviors, and other resident needs.
Christine visits every Monday, providing a consistent point of contact and helping the care team get to know each resident and their individual needs. She also visits every Thursday with a focus on weekly medication management and refills.
Beginning in September, families whose loved ones receive services through Grace at Home also have a dedicated monthly opportunity to connect directly with Christine by phone on the second Monday of each month. The calls create another regular touchpoint for questions, updates, and collaboration.
Celebrating Innovation in Care
Legato Living’s October update also celebrated partner etectRx, whose eBrief technology received Gold for Innovator of the Year at the 2026 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards.
eBrief is an intelligent incontinence monitoring system available to residents at Legato Living. It provides care teams with real-time information that can support more timely, personalized incontinence care while helping caregivers identify potential concerns earlier.
For Legato Living, partnerships like this are another way to bring thoughtful tools into care while keeping the focus on the individual resident.
Connections Beyond the Home
Community connection can extend beyond day-to-day life inside the home, too.
Through a family connection at the Union Street home, Legato Living had the opportunity to support a local classroom as a Matching Sponsor for the Hawk-A-Walk-A-Thon. The team described it as another way the relationships formed at Legato can create opportunities to support the people and communities around them.
Brookshire Is Taking Shape
Construction is also continuing at Legato Living’s future Brookshire home in Carmel.
Families interested in the future Carmel home can join the Brookshire waitlist through the Legato Living of Greater Indianapolis website to receive updates and learn more as the home gets closer to opening.
